How Time Lapse Video Can Bridge Relationships At Home

By Kerry Ross

Time lapse video is gaining quite some popularity these days. With so many people getting busy with their work and respective responsibilities in life, one barely catches the moment of their surroundings. Take for example in the family where to parents work during odd hours of the day.

The usual scenario is this. You get home from work. And everybody else is sound asleep or out and about and you are the one sleeping soundly in the room.

Most people are asleep during the night and awake during the day. This is the usual routine of the people. Children are awake in the day and asleep in the night.

This chasing around with quality moments in the family has got to have a solution somehow. The technological advancement in today's world has paved the way for technological tools as a solution to challenges like this at home. This technique is unique in the sense that you can record the activities that transpire during the day.

This technological advancement in recording is a leap from being the absentee father or mother that you are to the more participative parents. Gone are the days when the next thing that you knew they are no longer kids. When parents are barely seen at home, kids tend to forget who you are.

You barely have enough moment to spend with the kids, much less watch a long recording of the day's activities. Also, it does not mean that just because that the characters in the film are your loved ones, you are going to enjoy every moment of it. What this is trying to say is that there are parts of the video that may be boring and may need to be taken out in order to include only the most important and enjoyable parts of the documentation and also to get to that exciting part right away because again, you only have a few minutes left before you take off to dreamland.

Although the opportunity it presents to you in getting to know your children pales in comparison to the precious moments that you could share with them with your presence, still it more than compensates the absence. Either spouse or husband, whoever will be left the children the most, puts up the camera in strategic places in the house to record the activities of the children, especially the activity in which a parent is a participant. This recording provides an opportunity for absentee parents to get to know their children if they are not always around.

It is very convenient especially to those working parents who only have a few minutes to spare before they hit the bed. It is important to have the right equipment. But the required equipment for the coverage does not need to be very high end or so technologically advanced.

Take for example, you want to document exactly the period it first took the flower to fully abloom or open its petals. Imagine how long it would take to watch a recording that starts documenting from the moment the flower was just only a bud down to the minute the first petal cracked open. With time lapse video, you can view the happening and the process within a few minutes.
