Planning Your Bridal Photography

By Justine Morgan

A woman can have the moment before she becomes a man's wife captured on film with a bridal photo. Although it is not required, a bridal photography is often taken before the wedding day itself to have the bride's tranquil moments immortalized and captured on film.

While bridal photography sessions are normally held weeks prior to the wedding, there are cases when they are held just hours before the main event. Because of their busy schedule, there are women who choose to have their bridal photography session on the same day. This also allows them to don their wedding gown just once.

But most women choose to have their bridal portrait ahead of time to avoid the feeling of being rushed. Time is of the essence during the wedding day itself because there is only a short time assigned for the bride to prep. The bride usually prefers to have her portrait taken weeks ahead so she won't have to worry about time constraint.

During the session, the photographer can get to know the bride a little bit more so he would ascertain what her best approach for the shot will be during the wedding day. Likewise for the bride, she can treat the time as an exercise of sorts to ascertain the pose and look she feels most relaxed in. She can also treat this as a dress rehearsal and dry run for her hair and makeup.

Bridal photography sessions are commonly held in the photographer's studio, letting the photographer to better set the light for the shots. But if the bride wishes to go for a more contemporary look, she can have the picture taken outside. She can prefer to have the session at the beach or garden, her home, or other more remarkable locations.

Although it may appear old-fashioned, bridal photography can be a lovely memento of the bride in her full wedding garment taken in a serene environment. It recounts the bride's story on the pages of the wedding album before she formally takes the name of her husband.
