Quick Craft Ideas For Halloween - Creating Witch Hands

By Christy Hoyle

As you know, this handprint craft is different. What you will need are a few inexpensive supplies and it is likely you probably have them lying around the house. It is an easy craft to do with a crowd of children and the results are great for decorating the house or classroom. The best part is that you will end up with a fun memento to keep and look back on as the children grow.

You will need

a) Green paper or card Scraps of black, red or purple card, paper, felt, tissue paper etc 3. Pens and pencils White glue

Instructions.

Draw around the children's hands onto the green card. Older children can also pair up and draw round each other's hands. Carefully cut them out.

Use the scraps of paper or card to cut pointed oval shapes for long, spiky finger nails and stick them on - embellishing, if you like, with glitter or stickers.

Draw some spidery veins onto the hands, using your own hands as inspiration.

A wart or two can also be added. To make them, scrunch tissue paper into a tiny ball and stick onto the hands with white glue.

Aside from being used to decorate a notice-board, the fridge, or the Halloween table, you can also place them on either side of a plate for a humorous effect. By attaching them to the edge of doors with a sticky-tack, it would look as if someone spooky could be hiding on the other side!

These can also be used as invitations by attaching plain white paper to the back of the hands.

There are also variations.

Monster hands are what children could create. Before cutting out, you can use cream or brown card and square off the fingers of the handprints. For the fingernails, they should be black or silver and also square in shape. To draw veins and lots of spiky black hair in the center of the hand and knuckles, use black pen.

You can make ghostly hands out of white card. By stretching your handprints out a little, you can give particularly long, thin fingers. Grey or silver scraps can make out the fingernails and decorate them with silver glitter. Use pencil or grey pen to draw on veins.
