Shellac Nail Polish Is A Very Popular Selection For Women Today

By Janna C. Deem

A chip-free coating that will last for several weeks is claimed by shellac nail polish and has incredible flexibility and durability because it is cured by a new method. The extremely shiny finish that was previously available only with gel nails is now available from this new product.. This product is lightweight and thin enough to be used like regular nail polish, but here is where the difference comes in.

Good old fashioned fingernail polish was applied and then permitted to air dry, which used the basis of evaporation for the polish to dry and harden. That method usually can take up to two or three hours after the application, which is a very long time to sit around waiting for the polish to cure.

With shellac nail polish a special ultra violet light is used for just a few minutes to complete the curing process quickly. Your nails are thoroughly dry when your manicure is over, and the polish acts almost like a plastic coating that is durable and strong enough to tolerate accidental knocks. You can even rummage through your purse to locate your car keys so that you can drive home without having to worry about wrecking your nails. Shellac nail color actually seems to be a hybrid that contains half nail polish and half gel. This product cannot be used to make longer nails, but is best intended for those who are interested in maintaining their own nails naturally. This new formula does not appear to damage nail beds however, it is not recommended for people with already damaged nail beds, split or peeling nails since if part of your nail peels off the polish will come right along with it

The ingredients contained in these products are tested and studied to be certain they are safe as most people today are quite motivated by health and safety issues. It also has been pointed out that shellac offers a more nail friendly solution to gel nails since there is no sculpting or filing to the surface, just thin coats of polish with brief time spent under the UV lamp for each coat to cure.

Which brings us to the last element of this new type of manicure. Those of you who desire to do their own manicures at home should be advised that this was not intended as a do-it-yourself project. It is best that these products are only handled by skilled salon technicians who have the special UV lamps and proper equipment. Normal nail polish remover does not work so a special procedure must be used that allows this polish to easily come off.
