Arts And Crafts Ideas For Children To Pass Wonderful Time

By Daniel Turbin

If you looking for ways to keep your children happy, check out these arts and craft ideas. Kids love to make things and it is much better when Mom or Dad or both join in.

Autumn is a great time for taking the kids out into the woods to gather nuts, cones and leaves for their craft jobs. You will be surprised at how many arts and craft ideas are given by nature. You may spray cones and leaves with silver and gold paint and use them to make table decorations or even Christmas wreathes for the door. Nut wreathes are a great alternative to commercial Christmas wreaths and can be eaten later on if the children can wait that long.

Get some unshelled hazelnuts, chestnuts, walnuts and brazil nuts and collect a few ivy leaves to include some greenery. You also require some varnish, gum, small paint brush, wire and a ribbon. A glue gun would be helpful but it is not a must. Paint the shells of the nuts by some varnish to bring the natural beauty. You can also varnish the ivy leaves and leave them to dry overnight.

You can make the wreath base from twisting some small branches together into a rounded shape but you can even buy ready made ones quite inexpensively also. Work your way around the wreath gluing the nuts in position. It makes sense to use the larger nuts initially and then use the smaller hazelnuts to allow fill in any existing gaps. Try and vary the several colors to make the wreath appear pretty. Beautify using the ivy leaves and finalize using a nice ribbon. The kids will have a wonderful time putting this altogether and will be delighted when people stop to admire their creations.

Arts and craft ideas can turn into gifts as well. Any nut lovers would love to receive the above wreath as a present for the holiday season.
