By Doris Madden

In 1974, in the Canadian area of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Masimba Marlon Clarke was born. He spent the first six months of his life here before moving to the West Indies islands of Trinidad and Tobago. The next five years of his life were spent here before relocating back to his birth place, Winnipeg. In 1984, his family moved once again and settled in Toronto. It was during his stay here that he developed an interest in acting.

He majored in drama in high school. He took part in the productions of the drama club in his school. To be able to become a better actor, he took other lessons out of school. In 1999 he graduated from college where he was awarded a diploma in journalism. This achievement opened more doors in his acting career after completing his education.

He earned his first acting opportunity in an an independent feature called Massacre Up North. He was also part of the music video in Music at Work and appeared as guest star in television series, This Is Wonderland. This elevated his acting career as he also appeared in several advertisements in the print media for various business organizations.

Standing at 1.75m, he stands out among competing actors. His career is also boosted by the training he gained in school. His case is confirmation that success can indeed come to those who begin at an early stage in life. Being passionate about what you do is also very important as this is the only way to realize your dreams and ambitions.

There are many people who are born with the talent to become successful actors, but they fail to make it to the top because they do not know how to catch the attention of producers and advertisers. If you are interested in acting as a career, you need to know if you have any qualities or talents relevant to the profession. If you are a singer or dancer, you stand a good chance of succeeding as an actor.

Since there are different types of acting, you need to identify the one you are interested in. You can take roles for TV, movies or the theater. After identifying your interests and talents, put every effort in your endeavor until you succeed. As you pursue success, you will be faced with rejection which you should learn to deal with in a positive way.

Every actor basking in the glory of success has a story of the path they took to be where they are. Some have had to work extra hard while others had an easy time. Avoid thinking of getting an easy break as this can distract you. Persistence in anything will bear you the results you expect in the long run.

Following the example of Marlon Clarke, having some training in acting will ease your way to success. Training improves raw talent and trainers will guide you in the right way to lead you to the summit of your career. At the beginning there will be very many challenges and it is only your resolve that will help you overcome them.
